Dr,

can you please review the patch on OSX for pkg-config detection in configure.in to make sure it works? Also can you please add an incremental patch to doc/INSTALL to document how to add pkg-config via ports for OSX?

It works correctly. Please, apply this patch after the first to update the instructions. On Macports the package is called "pkgconfig".
