According to https://about.readthedocs.com/blog/2024/07/addons-by-default/
customizations that are now done via Sphinx/ conf.py will now become ReadTheDocs add-ons for all projects starting
October 7, 2024.
It is possible to enable those beforehand to check if and how our project would be affected: https://docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/addons.html#enabling-read-the-docs-addons

Better to do that beforehand and see what we need to fix.

This ticket covers the investigation and applying any needed fixes.
