Description

For 9.0 we'll want to update our MSRV to something that supports 2024 edition. At a minimum this is 1.85, however we'll likely be able to use something even newer.

We should also look at migrating to edition 2024.

Yeah, I had left it open until we can be edition 2024. But that can be another issue.
