Soner reports crashes during background stats collection when embedding libsuricata in c-icap, including SIGABRT on Linux and SIGSEGV on OpenBSD. He reports that setting stats.interval: 1 readily triggers the problem.

His workarounds include suppressing periodic stats output, manually synchronizing counters, and modifying stats context pointers. The root cause remains unconfirmed.

Investigate stats collection and context lifetimes in this integration. Potentially related to #9377, which tracks dynamic host-worker teardown and shutdown hangs.
