thank You, how can I get started please ? Am I to fork the suricata repo and look for the detect-ssh-software-version.c file ? I am a little confused.

Yes, the first step is to fork your suricata repository, then create a branch (read more at https://docs.suricata.io/en/latest/devguide/codebase/contributing/contribution-process.html#create-your-own-branch), and then you can follow up the instructions for the task on the parent issue for this task.

You will work with the detect-ssh-software-version.c file, as you've guessed :)

Although that seems to be the case, I'd like to wait for the proper deadline before un-claiming it (see https://forum.suricata.io/t/important-outreachy-contribution-phase-wrap-up-prs-claimed-tickets-and-more/), or unless @Temi Yusuf says they won't be working on it, before that. ;)

If you'd like to work on some beginner-level tasks but don't know where more to look for those, let us know!
